How can I make a room divider for privacy in a basement?

We rent a basement apartment with a drop ceiling. I'm looking into beaded curtains but they are pricey for how many we'd need. The canopies I saw online that go around the bed were a thought but they are too sheer and besides this the drop ceiling presents a challenge. Thanks for any help you can give me!
