GH: With the "budget cuts" and showing repeat episodes, couldn't they just?

cut Ethan/Maya, Lisa/Terrell and call it a day and give us consecutive episodes without the cutbacks and repeats. What do they bring to the story line anyway? Oh, and Brenda... Brenda... Brenda... ugh!
